    Establishing A Successful Tenancy

    Every day we help single people and families deal with issues with their tenancy in rentals, boarding houses, government housing and share houses.

    Homestay Program
    Cairns, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Biloela/Moura

    If you’re at risk of becoming homeless, our support workers can visit you in your home to help you manage issues including breach notices, establishing a successful tenancy, being unable to pay your rent, or property damage.

    We help you by:

    • Assessing your situation
    • Giving advice on how to keep your housing
    • Helping you access legal services and government departments including Centrelink
    • Ensuring you’re receiving any government benefits you’re entitled to
    • Training you in skills like budgeting and goal setting

    For those that are moving into a house after being homeless:

    • Support to establish a successful tenancy including setting up utilities, budgeting, and understanding your lease

    Availability

    This service is available to you if you’re over the age of 18, living in Cairns, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Bioela, or Moura and have accommodation (including private lease, boarding house, share house, government (public) housing or caravan park) that you are having issues maintaining or setting up. This could be because you have not paid your rent, aren’t meeting standards for cleaning or maintenance, or have received a breach/eviction notice.

    We accept referrals by you or by others including family, government and community services. Call us on 1800 Vinnies (1800 846 643).

    These services are provided at no charge with funding from the Queensland Government’s Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy.

    Family Accommodation Program – Housing Support
    Gold Coast

    If you’re a family who is at risk of becoming homeless, our support workers can visit you in your home to help you manage issues including breach notices, establishing a successful tenancy, being unable to pay your rent, or hoarding.

    We help you by:

    • Visiting you and assessing your situation
    • Giving advice on how to keep your housing
    • Helping you access services including legal services, drug and alcohol recovery, counsellors, domestic and family violence support, and government departments including Centrelink
    • Ensuring you’re receiving any government benefits you’re entitled to
    • Advocacy with agents or landlords to establish rental payment plans
    • Training you in skills like budgeting and goal setting
    • For those that are moving into a house after being homeless: support to establish a successful tenancy including setting up utilities, budgeting, and understanding your lease

    Availability

    This service is available to you if you’re a family (a group of two or more people who usually live in the same household and who are related to each other biologically or through another family relationship such as adoption or fostering), living on the Gold Coast, and have accommodation (including private lease, boarding house, share house, government housing or caravan park) that you are having issues maintaining or setting up. This could be because you have not paid your rent, aren’t meeting standards for cleaning or maintenance, or have received a breach/eviction notice.
