Vinnies encourage shoppers to celebrate a merry ‘Thristmas’
Vinnies Queensland encourages holiday shoppers to give the gift of thrift this year, with one of a kind vintage gems on offer across the state to raise much-needed funds for vital services for vulnerable Queenslanders.
‘Thriftmas’ makes it easy to find the perfect Christmas gift for loved ones at a fraction of the retail price, with Vinnies’ stores providing customers with access to treasure troves of unique finds including bargains on fashion for Christmas Day, homewares to dress your table with a festive flare, antiques and collectables perfect for Secret Santa gifts, or gifts to simply treat yourself.
Vinnies Queensland General Manager of Operations Drew Eide said shopping second hand this Christmas season provides a chance for bargain hunters to pick up the perfect present while supporting their local community and those in need.
“With the ongoing housing crisis and increased cost of living we know Christmas can be an expensive time of year, putting added financial burden on Queenslanders who are already struggling,” he said.
“By choosing to shop in one of more than 100 Vinnies Shops across the state, not only will customers find unique items, but can answer the question we often ask ourselves at this time of year – what do you get someone who already has everything?
“Participating in ‘Thriftmas’ will not only help customers find unique items — with something for everyone — but you get the opportunity to support others in your community, just by doing your Christmas shopping.”
Funds raised from Vinnies Queensland’s Shops helped the organisation distribute nearly $10m in direct emergency assistance and respond to more than 215,000 calls for help in the last financial year.
Donations are also accepted at all Vinnies Shops during operating hours or through donation bins located across the state.
